I have three, 4 day old chicks that are using this brooder, along with a vertical heat plate in their brooder box. They seem to be alternating which they prefer to use but seem happy enough under this brooder. It feels warm-hot to the touch, but not hot enough to burn. The directions say that the red light turns on to indicate it is on, but the light regularly turns off. I messaged the sellers and they assured me it’s part of a safety mechanism that prevents the brooder from getting too hot. So that light doesn’t indicate power to the unit, but rather just when it’s heating up.
I’m not sure that this maintains a constant, consistent temperature; and I’d like to see a light that indicates power, IN ADDITION to the “heating up” light.
But overall seems solid enough, and chicks seem happy.

This product was easy to set up. I think the size is perfect for a newborn chick. It works exactly as described and was very easy to put together. It seems to keep everyone perfectly warm without overheating and I love it!

The media could not be loaded.
It was the best decision I made for our newly hatched chicks, a far better choice than a traditional heat lamp. The low electricity output was a relief for my energy bills, and the absence of fire risk provided peace of mind.
Setting up the brooder plate is very easy. Simply adjust it to your desired height, place it in the enclosure, and watch as the chicks huddle underneath it. The sturdy legs ensure it stays put, even when the chicks get adventurous and hop on top.
The brooder plate’s height adjustment feature has been a godsend as my chicks have grown. It’s very simple to adjust, ensuring the chicks always have the right amount of warmth. Positioned in front of a sunny window, the chicks have been able to develop a natural day-night rhythm.
In the evenings, even at three weeks old, my chicks still find comfort on the edges of the brooder plate. It’s been a perfect fit for our baby chicks, although I would suggest a maximum of 6-8 chicks per plate to ensure everyone has enough space, especially as they approach the three-week mark.
Overall the price was good and I like the adjustable stands. So far my baby chicks love it.

For our first time hatching our own chicks we were somewhat horrified by the idea of using a heat lamp. After some research we decided to go for this heat plate and couldn’t be happier. Instructions are very clear and simple. Assembly was quick and heating plate worked like a charm without being a fire hazard . Happy growing chicks, Happy owners . Highly recommend!

This plate has worked awesome for our little quail chicks.
However, when we first received it I was testing it out and using a thermometer underneath to check if it would be warm enough for the chicks.
Even when placing the thermometer directly on the plate, it would only get up to about 85 degrees before it would turn off (the red light clicks off, and it stops heating).
This plate is advertised to go up to 120ish degrees, so I knew something must be wrong with the thermostat.
So, I took the heating plate apart and when I looked at the heating wires underneath the aluminum foil, I saw a small rectangular shape attached to it. When I peeled back the foil, sure enough, this was the thermostat. What was wrong with it? It was RIGHT NEXT to the heater wire. So essentially, it would start heating up and almost immediately turn off.
I saw couple other reviews for this plate that said it almost killed their chicks due to turning on and off, and I bet this was the issue.
The solution is simple: bend the small thermostat a little further away from the heater wires, and put the whole plate back together.
Now it stays on and I’ve only seen it cut off a couple times when it gets really hot. Now it stays around 95 degrees under the plate where the chicks sit (though the actual plate is much warmer, too hot to touch) and the chicks have been very happy.
Just make sure to test it before putting your chicks under it, and if it starts kicking off, do this modification.
Aside from that, this thing is great. Build quality is good, and it doesn’t use a ton of electricity. Very happy with it.

This item doesn’t work. It doesn’t even heat up.
I purchased it in preparation for my chickens and when I plugged it in, it wouldn’t even warm up. The return policy is ridiculous.
Don’t waste your money.

I got this for new chicks, which need to start off at about 95 degrees. It’s only temping at around 85 degrees. I ended up ordering a back up of a different heat plate. It could be good for a few week old chicks.

This is my middle favorite of buying! I’m not sure how it works, is suitable for chicks of all ages, easy to assemble, and has a great price!“”
