I purchased this handy little knife sharpener because I’m tired of using all the different sharpening stones that I own; just too much trouble getting them all and cleaning them. My intentions at time of purchase is to use this to sharpen my lawnmower blade. The businesses near where I live charge what this things costs and more for a one-time sharpening. Also, many of those sharpening services use grinders which I’ve learned can damage your lawnmower blade. Since this little sharpener works on so many types of devices from knives, to shears, to lawnmower blades and more, I decided to try it on my Kershaw pocket knife that was becoming dull. After following the directions exactly as described and a few pulls of the blade I checked out the sharpness. Wow! This pocket knife is now sharper than when it was brand new. In fact, it is much sharper than brand new. I of course couldn’t wait to try it on my lawnmower as it’s been having trouble properly cutting the blades of grass. I removed the lawnmower blade and followed directions using the Sharpal on the blade. After sharpening I powered up the lawnmower and cut my heavily overgrown front lawn. Again, Wow! This thing really put a great edge on my blade and the grass was cut just like when my machine was new, actually it probably cut it even more precisely. I can’t think of a more handy and versatile sharpener than the Sharpal. It’s small and easy to store, sharpens pretty much everything, and is a really good price. Excellent tool for everyone to have on hand. Just be careful after you sharpen things as you may be surprised just how sharp you get them. Definitely a strong recommend from me.

I really wanted one sharpener for my pruners and hedge trimmers. Thought this was it. It’s great for so many things but the pruners tool is hard to use. It just doesn’t fit in the gap between the blades on my pruners. Good for other things in the garden but not pruners.
Update: the seller responded proactively on this and while they can’t fix the actual product (as that would require a redesign) the response was good.

The sharpener works well for newer mower blades that have a decent edge on them and works ok with a blade that was sharpened with a grinding wheel and the edge is beveled at the wrong angle.
Other applications I have used it on were scissors and that sharpened them clean and super sharp. Also sharpened an axe and that was a good clean sharp edge on that too !

so far i love this thing. Swiped my knife through the sharpener three times and it was razor sharp. Sharpened my lawnmower blades and it was sharp within couple swipes. Definitely recommend and comfortable/easy to use. Would recommend and buy again!! Best bang for buck

Received it today. Already sharpened my ax, hatchet, shovel, pocket knife, and the riding mower blades. Works perfect. I downloaded the manual, and it’s easier to read than the manual included with the tool. If your lawnmower blades are worn rounded at the cutting edge, this tool will not work. It says so in the manual. You would have to put a beveled edge on them first with a file or angle iron grinder. Then , this tool works perfect. My blades were just a little worn, and now they are sharp with this tool. It works great on kitchen knives, too. Well worth the money.

This is my first Amazon review, as the product is that useful / good. Sharpening my axes and hand tools is usually quite a length process, and whilst it’s important – it takes so much time that I don’t sharpen them as often as I should.
This tool is amazing. I have a large machete that I use for clearing brush, and I try to avoid sharpening it due to its shape, and the fact that it takes a lifetime. I can now sharpen it within a few minutes, and then hone it. The same is true with my axes – although due to the smaller heads they are quicker with a standard whetstone. With this tool you will be able to sharpen stuff exceptionally quickly (I haven’t done my shears yet – but I reckon they will be just as easy) and get things to a very good standard. When you are sharpening you can see the metal grinding off in tiny pieces, so don’t do it around electronics incase you want to short them out. It has the ability to hone tools as well, which it does quite nicely.
In short; very good product, and if/when it breaks – I will be buying this thing again. Seems pretty sturdy however, so I suspect it will last a while.
