I got these for ducks, so while they were small, it was perfect. As they get larger, their beaks’ may not fit in the water trough, but by then you should probably switch over to a bucket because they tend to play in the water when it’s down low anyway. And remember to extend the 3 legs for more elevation or uneven surfaces like grass- it’ll dig in better. When it’s on something like concrete, I think it works best with the legs retracted.
The feeder has worked great, too.

I bought these to put in the brooder for growing, very active baby chicks. My previous waterer sat on the floor of the brooder and was always full of shavings. The low waterer was necessary when the chicks were just hatched, but now that they’re 2 weeks old and VERY active and taller, these dishes on legs help keep things clean. They are solid, easy to clean and stable.

Like that the water can be set up higher using the legs. This feature does help to keep the water clean with baby chicks.
The feeder jar would be nicer if it were larger. My five baby chicks empty it by mid-day. Otherwise, the set is perfect for raising baby chicks. Easy cleaning, stable bases, easy for chicks to use. No spill issues.

I really like the waterer with the adjustable legs, totally awesome! I wish I would have seen the set with both the waterer AND the feeder with adjustable legs. But that’s okay, I bought another set with both and boy are they wonderful!!!! Thank you so much! Oh, they were packed great and I received in time stated, even a day earlier than expected.

So I got this assuming that it would help with mess or waste of feed. If you’re buying this for that you’re gonna have a hard time finding one that does. Many reviews genuinely had me scared to use the little legs on the water in the event that it would fall and squish the chicks and when I got it the legs did feel shaky. But chicks will ALWAYS find a way to kick feed in or out of these or poop on them. It’s mid but it gets the job done. Just don’t be surprised if you fill the whole feed and an hour later and they managed to kick it ALL out :/

I’ve hatched 100’s of chicks and tried about a dozen different chick feeders and waterers.
The feeder: the threaded top actually locks on the base right and secure. Every other chick sized feeder has a different design and the top pops off the base easily. This has a good capacity and it’s easy to fill.
The waterer: slightly larger capacity than other chick waterers. The slide lock is great. The adjustable legs let’s me lift the water just high enough that it doesn’t get filled with bedding, but low enough for newborn chicks to reach it.
Overall, I can’t be happier with this product. I’m ordering a second set right now.
