When I saw my human walking towards us with a strange box in her hand, I was skeptical. I first thought the box was empty and she was going to take our eggs again (annoying!).
When she reached in and gave us food from the box I was intrigued. I wasn’t the first to bite, as I’m the wisest of the flock (the others can’t even type). I waited in the back of the pack to see what the reaction was. I didn’t need to wait long. The flock erupted in excited clucks. I was again amazed at how dumb my fellow chicken were. If I had taken the first bite, I would have played it cool and told them it wasn’t good. This would buy me time so I could gobble down more of these delicious morsels.
I was surprised that we would enjoy eating dried worms. I try not to thing about it too much as I enjoy each bite. These are what I day dream about now. When will that glorious box reappear and I get to feast again??

They haven’t had mealworms in a while so this was quite a treat for them. I love watching them run like… well… chickens to grab every one that gets tossed

I am using this large box of larvae as a supplement to my chickens diet. With the cold weather I worry the bugs are hiding. I like knowing that my hens are still getting a variety of foods from their mash and these bugs. The girls go crazy over them and it’s always a fun frenzy. They are fresh, dry and crunchy ( just like they like them). The quality appears good and I haven’t had any hens complain.

I was pretty excited to get these treats for my backyard flock. Upon opening the box, I found that the worms were in a plastic bag that was NOT sealed. It wasn’t even taped shut. Had I opened the box from the opposite end, this could have been a real mess. Also, wouldn’t leaving an open bag of bugs draw . . . well, bugs? If I’m spending the time and money to acquire such snacks for my chickens, I want quality. I want them to arrive safe and sealed and unmunched on. I just don’t like the idea of these sitting exposed in a warehouse for X number of months and then being shipped out. I would consider these as a less than satisfactory condition upon arrival. I’m still going to give them to the girls and I’m sure the hens won’t mind but I would look elsewhere for my next BSF larvae purchase.
As for the larvae themselves, they are plump, long and plentiful. Black soldier fly larvae are proven to have more protein than other options such as mealworms. These are much healthier for your feathered friends than mealworms. My hens love BSF larvae.

Great source of protein for my hens.
They go crazy over these!
I usually mix them with their feed and that’s the first think they eat. Definitely recommend them!

I got these because my chickens love me for it! They don’t care what brand, which Amazon seller, what they look like, or how they are packaged. They love them all the same! The best I can do is try to find good quality ones for a good price, which is what I believe I have found here. Unfortunately, trying to find any that are produced in the USA is nearly impossible. I know of only 1 company, and they charge 2.5 times more. With 28 chickens and 6 geese, I have to go with something more affordable, and that is exactly what these mealworms from Hebayrui are!

Not sure if it’s the size or that they’re too gressy but my chicken wont eat these but she eats other brands
