This product caught my eye as I was looking at warmers for my baby chicks; I thought I’d give it a try. It has been less than satisfactory so far. Even set very low, it did not provide enough heat for my 2-day old chicks (thankfully, I had a heat lamp). The feathers are just supposed to be stuck on with some (provided) double-sided tape, which seemed not too secure and potentially dangerous for inquisitive babies. Finally, I couldn’t get the “no-roost” cone topper to fit on the unit (I’ll try again), although I tried for about 10 minutes. The heat level may prove sufficient for older chicks, so it still may be useful.

I am impressed with this product. The size, shape, and feather skirt design are really close to mimicking a hen, and the heat that gets put out is not overbearing. I don’t feel like I have to worry about anything catching fire or of overheating chicks.
The height is also adjustable, so it’s easy to raise the plate as the chicks grow which is really nice.
I am starting to wonder if something like this would work better in my hermit crabs tank than the heat pad that is currently in there.

I like the look and style of the Epoium 10″ x 10″ Brooder. It’s easy for chicks to get in and out of the feathers if they choose not to use the opening. The adjustable legs make it easy to keep your birds warm while they grow. The material is of decent quality and the plate heats well.
My birds seem to like it, so it’s a plus for us!

Items well made, easy to set up, has been keeping the little guys warm. Heating plate could be a little bigger, so will definately need to get another one. But so far we havent had any issues with the setup itself scalding/burning them. Havent been using it long, but so far so good! Good little setup for the price point!

This heater is in the brooder with my youngest chicks. We decided not to use the feathers when we saw that they were trying to eat them. But as soon as they started hopping atop it, we put the cone on top. That has been very helpful in keeping the brooder, and especially their sleeping space, relatively poop-free. This heater gets very warm, almost uncomfortably hot for humans to touch. The chicks are very cozy under it. There are no temperature controls — it’s either plugged in and on, or unplugged and off. Helpfully, it has a red light indicating it’s on, letting us be sure the chicks are staying warm. Height adjustment is super quick and easy, and allows for tiny incremental changes — much better than the other heater we have which requires taking it apart completely, and only has 3 heights.

This brooder heater works. I think. It seems a little shady that the instructions point out that you can’t tell the heater’s success by whether it heats or not, but if the chicks like it. I do think it heats though. It gets warm. Not super warm, but to their point, you don’t want to heat them out either. The cone that sits on the top is plastic and feels a little cheesy. I’m not certain how long that’ll last. I’m also sure I’ll be cleaning off the top edges of the heater a bunch over time, but overall, it works.

I ordered this heat plate before I got my 2 days old chickens and they thrived! It holds comfortably up to 6 chicks underneath.
The sep up was easy, seems pretty solid and adjusting the height as your little grow is pretty trouble free. Overall a great product, you will find cheaper ones but I think you are paying a bit more for the quality and fathers you can add to it.

I have tested multiple heating plates for chicks, and this was one of my favorites! I’ll say that my only disappointment was that at least, I didn’t see it in a larger size. Be warned, they always overestimate the number of chicks that can go under these plates. The rule of thumb is look at what they list and divide by half.
The plate itself is well constructed, and it is adjustable. One of the things that this plate has that others don’t are feathers that can go around the edge of the plate. This not only gives The Chicks more of a sense of mom, it also gives them a closed Enclosure that more likely stimulates nature. I also love the cone on the top. You can both assemble and disassemble it for storage. It protects your top from rusting checks, which will make cleanup so much easier.
What I don’t like about this plate, and many of the others is that the manufacturers didn’t really do their homework about chickens. Chicks look to feel the warmth on their backs of their mother. They are in contact with her. These plates range between temperatures of 120 and higher. That is likely going to burn a chick back. so you will need to just the height according to your chicks to avoid any injuries from overheated plates. As far as the price, I felt it was reasonable. As long as you understand the issues with the upper ends of temperature. You will like the plate.
